I went to the show last night at the Highline Ballroom with DJ Sharee and it was amazing. ?uest Love warmed up the crowd with a medley of hot original head-boppin’ tracks. Then the show began and completely hypnotized the crowd with a raw fusion of Jazz, R&B, Soul and Hip-Hop. I am so inspired right now.

Casey Benjamin killing it on Sax and Vocoder. Amazing!

The regal and demure Chrisette Michelle left the crowd awestruck with her amazing scatting ability. Her voice was like silk…soothing and beautiful.

Yasiin Bey came out with his fire engine red mic and rocked the house. He even blessed the crowd with “Umi Says”.

The lovely Miss Lalah Hathaway blessed the crowd with he sultry and soulful vocals. She was so graceful and demure. So sweet.

Bilal and Lalah sang the most beautiful together towards the end of the night.

“There’s always a way to fix a broken heart. But it has to start with me first. Resentment is an awful thing to have. And I believe that people can grow…So if someone decides they’re in a better place to be better to my heart, than sure, he can fix it.”

Ah….it’s a complex relationship between me & NYC. It’s my home…I enjoy it….sometimes I can’t stand it…but I do love it. Sigh!

Found this pic on one of my fave blog sites. It was so touching, I had to re-post. It seems like being exceptional or outstanding in life is a sacrifice. I’m sad that we have lost these amazing icons too soon.

There were so many wonderful looks on the red carpet tonight but I wanted to keep this short and sweet. Below are my faves.

Viola Davis captivated me with this look. The most beautiful accessory to this gown is that natural cropped hairdo. You can really see her natural beauty and the color is so flattering with her complexion and that green dress.

Jennifer Lopez is a vision in this gown. She looks elegant, young and sexy. You have to be fit and fearless to rock this and she oozes a level of confidence that is hypnotizing. #WOW

Emma Stone looks beautiful, regal and elegant in this gown. The color and design is so dainty.

Milla Jovovich is giving it to us with this regal, elegant look. If you are not convinced by the dress…just look into her eyes. #OW
This performance captivated me. I found this clip on one of my fave blog sites. I think that there is something so powerful about Nina’s presence. She is so fierce…and it draws you in. It’s bigger than just the power of her voice and her talent. It’s her power in general. That is what I admire most about musical artists. I think that is the difference between being a good artist and a great one…the difference between you telling people you are the real deal….and you just simply keeping it real…or your audience feeling realness from you.

Reminds me of my view of NYC from NJ when I can actually find my way back. LOL! Been lost too many times but when I see that skyline….I’m at ease…don’t trip though…I’ll be the one driving at a steady 45 mph on that Turnpike….ow! Just go on around hommie. LOL!
